SUMMARY

Overall, the goal of this design was to evoke feelings of familiarity and belonging among those familiar with authentic Italian cuisine and atmosphere, capturing the classic feel in a fresh and modern way.

I created a visual identity to reflect the appropriate mood and tone of the restaurant, serving as a blueprint for the brand’s colour palette, shapes, and style to define its look and feel. In my research into different textures associated with traditional Italian restaurants, homes, and architecture, I discovered Italian Majolica tile, which gave me the inspiration I needed to formulate a direction for the project’s overall look.

The wordmark logo, consisting of a handwritten and sans-serif font, creates a charming and sophisticated feel, as well as visual hierarchy. The abstract shapes around the box are representative of the intricate details found on Mediterranean tile, reflecting a modern yet familiar feeling. Finally, the window cut-out on the box serves as a call to the characteristic of quality over quantity, providing an open and inviting look into the high-end meal inside.
