  • Graphic Design

SUMMARY

These designs combine dynamic visuals with functional design, each ticket representing the unique artists, atmospheres, and genres of the events they represent. Bold typography, immersive colour schemes, and intricate details bring the essences of each performance to life while maintaining usability and quality. These designs aim to enhance the attendees’ brand experience, turning a simple ticket into a cherished keepsake.

BACKGROUND

The ticket designs were inspired by the interconnection between performances and visual storytelling. I focused on creating designs that capture the spirit of each event while ensuring practicality. Each ticket integrates creative layouts and graphics with cohesive branding, highlighting my approach to blending artistic expression with functional design. These projects reflect my dedication to creating memorable, impactful, and innovative designs.

The Last Podcast on the Left - JK Ultra

THE CHALLENGE

I enjoy good challenges, and this project was definitely one of them. The aim for this design was to evoke a sense of eerie nostalgia and transport you through time to a suspensefully dark, gothic, and unsettling place of mystery and hauntings. Additionally, this design is supposed to feel familiar, raw, and unsettling, while at the same time remaining thoughtful and high-quality.

THE APPROACH

In order to combine all these objectives into a cohesive visual, I looked to the past and took great inspiration from classic vintage horror novels, comic books, and movie covers. This created a foundation for the overall branding identity as they simultaneously remind one of the past evoking a sense of nostalgia and familiarity, call to the mystery-horror genre of the production, and retain a vibrant nature through the use of selective bright colour. The simplicity of modernist design retains the feeling of quality, while the memories of evenings spent frightenedly watching horror films implement the raw familiar feel.

My Chemical Romance - “Long Live” The Black Parade

THE CHALLENGE

One of My Chemical Romance’s most unique aspects is the way they approach the gothic aesthetic in a modernistic way. The aim for this design was to evoke a sense of rawness, emotion, and grittiness, as well as a slight feeling of nostalgia and sentimentality. Additionally, this design should be reminiscent of The Black Parade album cover, using the signature parade leader graphic as well as the rough gritty texture. The challenge was to incorporate elements of roughness and grittiness while keeping a clean and minimal feel, as well as including all of the necessary information.

THE APPROACH

After many iterations and exploration of various concepts, I settled on the idea of using a photograph from the original Black Parade tour in 2007 to create a sense of nostalgia, using a cut out effect to allow the singer to stand out from the image. I carefully chose various sans-serif fonts to create visual hierarchy and balance, including many layers of information in one simply-read column. This approach enabled the design to keep a balanced, clean, and minimal feel, while preserving the gothic modernist feel.

BBNO$ - It’s Pronounced Baby No Money

THE CHALLENGE

Musician Baby No Money (Stylized as BBNO$) is a unique entity in the rap scene in the way he approaches lyrics with playful humour, and incorporates bizarre, suggestive, and often familiar themes. The aim for this design was to incorporate some of the nostalgic cut outs from the full-size digital tour poster to create a sense of familiarity and humour, as well as simulating a feeling of scatteredness that aligns with the lyrics. The challenge was to incorporate multiple scattered elements while maintaining visual balance and a clean defined finish.

THE APPROACH

My design approach for this ticket focused on translating BBNO$’s playful and eclectic personality into a visually compelling format. Inspired by the nostalgic, collage-style elements from the tour poster, the ticket incorporates scattered cutouts and quirky visuals that evoke a sense of humour and spontaneity, reflecting the artist’s lyrical style. The use of bold colours and retro imagery draws the viewer’s attention and enhances the ticket’s connection to the artist’s unique aesthetic. Careful attention was given to balancing the chaotic placement of elements with clear typography and structured spacing, ensuring both visual intrigue and functional readability.
