SUMMARY
In November 2024, TRPA hosted a prom event aiming to provide an inclusive experience for individuals who couldn’t attend prom in alignment with their gender identities, expression, or sexualities, or who missed the opportunity due to COVID-19.
I was asked to create a complete visual identity —including logo design and graphics for print and digital use— to promote ticket sales for the event and aid in TRPA’s mission to celebrate authenticity.
BACKGROUND
TRPA is a non-profit student advocacy organization at Toronto Metropolitan University that aims to create connections and advocate for the interests of LGBTQIA+ students on campus.
As Marketing Executive, it is my role to develop strategic campaigns that align with our mission and goals. Through leading creative discussions, executing innovative outreach strategies, and social media management, I work to build meaningful connections from campus to beyond.

APPROACH
The theme reveal graphic features a CD encased in a semi-transparent jewel case, shimmering under the light reflections through the water and surrounded by gentle bubbles. I relied on a palette of mostly blues and greens to evoke the essence of the sea. The CD itself features minimalist shell motifs, adding a delicate, beach-like touch while maintaining a formal and polished aesthetic. I took inspiration from hype stickers and mini discs to include the title logotype and event information on the cover, as well as a price tag style sticker to subtly include the TRPA logo.
For the ‘Under the Sea’ logo, I drew visual inspiration from The Little Mermaid, tapping into nostalgia and subtly reinforcing the theme itself. For the ‘Queer Prom’ logo, I selected a decorative, yet clean and inviting font that added a touch of charm and sophistication to the design. Both logos incorporate a sparkle motif, creating a whimsical and charming tone, and further alluding to the enchanting atmosphere of the magical night to come.
The performer announcement graphic consists of two slides; The first slide serves as a title, featuring a closed book with a simple mermaid illustration to reinforce the theme and keep their Instagram feed clean, while the second slide shows the book opening up to reveal the images of the performers. Both slides feature the same enchanting font as the Queer Prom logo, creating a cohesive visual identity. The book, appearing to float in shimmering water, along with the bubble elements on its open pages, serve as a recurring motif from the theme reveal graphic, ensuring visual consistency and recognizability across media.
